Your laundry is a space that can become chaotic very quickly, with washing, folding, ironing and so much more in just the one room. We’ll show you how to give your laundry a mini refresh without the need for a major renovation.
Paint
Make your laundry look bigger with a new coat of light or neutral coloured paint. It tricks the eye into making the space seem open and larger. After years of use your benchtop and cupboards can begin to fade or have colour discolouration from cleaning products and dirty items so a furniture refresh will mask all of that like it had never been there in the first place. Storage
Smart storage solutions will help to maximise the space you have available. Ways to add storage:
- Adding a small drying rack to utilise the unused wall space
- Use cupboard doors and entry door to the laundry as storage by handing organising racks to easily see items and remove anything from being on the floor
- Place small baskets with removable linen lining on your shelves so if anything spills in can be easily washed as well as organised by group. You could also place labels on the baskets.
- Use all the space above your cupboards and high shelving to your advantage by storing bulk and unused items away. Again use baskets in these spots to avoid making the space look overcrowded.
Workspace
Make your laundry work harder for you with a customised workspace. Placing a countertop above your washer/dryer for extra space to fold and organise clothing. Additionally, a lot of laundry appliances now have inbuilt storage space underneath for some added storage.
Lighting
Easily see everything in the laundry with a fresh set of bright white bulbs or led lighting. Older light bulbs don’t last as long and cast a yellow light which makes the laundry seem small, dated and makes it harder to see. Switch out your fixtures for something new like down lights or even paint your fixture for a new feel.
